NOTES FOR TODAY:

All Girls need to leave all their jewelry at home (except for characters who've been asked to wear specific jewelry). 
·         All MS actors are required to check in their costume pieces/props after each show. They may leave once all of their costume pieces and props are checked back in.
·         All MS girls please bring in your dance shorts. 
·         All MS wear deodorant.
·         Please no perfume or cologne for any cast or crew. 
·         Please only bring water  to drink (no colored, sugary or milk based drinks allowed during the run of the show).  
·         If anyone has a steamer we can borrow we would be deeply appreciative.

COSTUME SIZING FORMS NEEDED ASAP FOR SEVERAL MS THESPIANS!!!

Dear MS Thespians and Parents,

I need your help please!!! With only three weeks until the show, costume orders must be placed no later than Monday in time to arrive, decorate and tailor.  I am missing approximately 10 forms still from the MS cast/crew, please make sure to help expedite this process by filling out the sizing form  to the side of this post, located underneath important documents!!!

If you are not sure if you have submitted one please either email me or submit another form, better to have two on file than none on file!

CREW CALL TIMES for Sunday the 16th & Monday the 17th

Our Amazing Crew,

Sunday the 16th 12pm-4pm is OPTIONAL for crew since we have just added this rehearsal. There will   only be about 2.5 hours of work to tend to this day since we are making up rehearsal time lost due to the storm.

Monday the 17th crew may report  anytime from 10 am to 5 pm.   You will  need to bring your scripts as we will try to get through one walk through of cue to cues and look for running crew needs. There will be organizing and tons of prep work to tend to for decorating and set up needs. Also, I will need crew to film dances and songs to post to the blog to which all cast members may rehearse songs/dances at home. :)

Make sure you have filled out a sizing form as well for your running crew shirts! The form is located to the right under important documents.

Bring extra drink, snacks, a pencil, and your script!

WILLY WONKA "FROZEN" UPDATES!

Greetings Wonkians,

I hope you all have stayed safe and warm these past few days and enjoyed frolicking in the snow, drinking hot chocolate, sleeping in and of course, working on your school work!

I changed my name to Anna, and sang Do you want to build a Snowman and Let It Goooooo!!!!!! Perhaps Frozen would have been a really good show choice for this year? :)

To the right under important documents and in the honor of our "Frozen" weather, you will find the a revised WW MS FROZEN SCHEDULE UPDATED 2.13.14. This includes the addition of Sunday February 16 rehearsal from 12-4 and an earlier call time Monday which now begins at 10 am.

A revised WW LS SCHEDULE has also been updated and posted under important documents.

Please note all changes to the schedule are noted in purple and turquoise "ink".


REMINDERS FOR MS:

  • DAILY REVIEW:
    • ALL Thespians please remember to practice your choreography, songs, and lines at home DAILY for at least 15 minutes, be sure to review any blocking or character notes as well.
  • A NOTE  FOR MS THESPIANS ABOUT TIME MANAGEMENT DURING REHEARSALS:
    • What's our rehearsal mantra and the #1 rule of performing arts rehearsals? "Don't waste time, don't waste time, don't waste time!"
    • Remember that every minute counts at rehearsals and no one should be saying they have nothing to do, or are just sitting around and waiting. While we do give you down time to have snack and lunch, outside of these times you should never be "just sitting around" or "doing nothing". Our show depends on the efforts of close to 200 students coming together to perform a show and naturally "downtime" is a part of any rehearsal whether theatre, ballet, music, film, etc... when working on a show and blocking scene by scene. However, we have multiple rooms/groups working at any given time so please read below every carefully as Thespians you are responsible for your rehearsal time!
    • As we have discussed at every rehearsal, you should be working with me, Mr. Bromberg, Mr. Michek, or with your group/scene partners on your dances, lines, and blocking.  Although we are getting closer to our performance goals every day, no one has perfected any of our dances so there is always something on which to work. :)
    • We also encourage you to manage your time doing your homework as well when your scene is not be worked on in the three rooms.
    • If you have any questions about this, please come speak with me directly at any time!!! 
  • BRING WATER, EXTRA SNACKS, HW, SCRIPTS or NOTEPAD  on which to take blocking and notes re:your scenes and characters as rehearsal duration time increases and we draw closer to the show!
  • Wear shoes in which you can dance and clothes in which you can move. 
  • MS LADIES, if you play a "girl-mother-female" part please bring a skirt or dress to rehearsal so you can practice your movements/dances in clothing similar to your costume. Clothes definitely change the way we move.
  • Shoes, accessories, tights/socks costume information will be released at the beginning of the week!
I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Your commitment to the show, to each other, the leadership and mentoring with our LS cast, and our LS cast's amazing behavior and spirit. You "show" our Davis values each day at rehearsals and the 3 c's of 21st century learning: collaboration, communication, and creativity!  Go LIONS!!!

Looking forward to seeing MS Sunday and MS /5th grade Monday at all day rehearsals!!!

Crew Times for Next Two Sunday Rehearsals

Crew should come at the same call times as ALL MS for the next two Sundays.  If a crew member would like to come in at early call time or stay late for late call time,  please  email me at kphillips@davisacademy.org so I can have tasks ready for you!

Crew will be receiving a separate crew schedule this Tuesday which will include specific times for  crew only meetings!

WW UPDATE FRIDAY JANUARY 31


Man Plans and God & Mother Nature Laugh!

SNOW AND ICE UPDATE!

I hope everyone is safe and warm from the past few days of Winter Storm Leon. It was a good time for some Hot Chocolate!!!

 I hope some of you MS actors were able to do some character research in the snow and ice since our musical includes both! :) 

Due to the inclement weather and the two missed MS rehearsals this week on T/TH, the MS WW schedule has once again been revised and updated to try and accommodate the missed hours we so need in our rehearsals.  We are only 4 Weekend practices away from Tech week.

Arriving on time and staying for the duration of rehearsals for which your character is called is a MUST for the success of the show and the entire Team! 

The missed LS rehearsal from this week will not be re-scheduled. The LS rehearsal schedule continues as originally published.

Let's hope Mother Nature works with us from now through the end of the show run.  :)

  • COSTUME FORMS DUE!!! The first costume form deadline of January 26th has passed. PLEASE fill out the LS and MS Costume Sizing forms ASAP if you have not done so already. The link is located under Important Documents, simply click on LS or MS Costume form, enter the information asked, and hit submit, your responses are automatically recorded.  Thank you to all who have completed them already!  Materials for costumes cannot be ordered or purchased until these forms are completed,  nor can "shoes-tights-socks-hair"  information be communicated until these are received.  Please submit the forms by Tuesday, February 4. Forms not received by that date, will have sizes "guess-timated". Thank you so much for your help with this!  We want your children to shine and be "outfitted" properly! :) 
  • MS ACTORS AND PARENTS PLEASE PRINT THE MS REVISED SCHEDULE. Please note it is on two pages!  ALL updates & changes are noted in yellow "highlighter". Thank you!!!!
  • MS ACTORS please bring your scripts to Sunday's Rehearsal, a pencil with an eraser, your water bottle, lunch, and shoes in which you can move. Also, you may BYOD to record your songs-dances.  (Just a reminder: Pizza Lunch ordering begins NEXT SUNDAY the 9th, not this SUNDAY the 2nd.)
  • LS ACTORS only need bring extra snacks and bottle of water. No scripts are necessary! :) 

  • Please note LS Parts Assignments as well as WW Songs Breakdown spreadsheet (Songs by who, what, track #, page #) have been posted under Important Documents.

What a fabulous, energetic, and wonderful first Sunday rehearsal with both the Lower School casts and Middle School casts!

Please note there is NO Sunday rehearsal scheduled for this weekend. Enjoy a long weekend!

Also, MS Cast please note that as discussed last week at rehearsal and yesterday, tomorrow's MS rehearsal Tuesday January 14 is an ALL MS cast rehearsal in order to make up from the missed rehearsal due to midterms.
